The Network
Players can leave ghosts for each other in the real world. The game is complete without it, and it stays switched off until you say yes.
- Set a ghost loose and it haunts the spot you were standing in for 7 days. Anyone scanning there may meet it — and nobody is told it was yours.
- Nothing identifying is sent. No name, no email, no account, no exact position — just a code for the roughly 10 km square around you.
- It forgets you. Your anonymous record is erased 90 days after your last ghost, or immediately from Settings → Delete my Network data.
- Halloween intrusions (Oct 24 – Nov 2, after dark) let a nearby ghost break into the app for a few seconds. Switch them off in Settings.
No chat, no messages, no profiles, no player names. The privacy policy lists exactly what is sent, when, and for how long.
Your phone. Your game. Your data.
No accounts, no ads, no analytics. Your journal stays on your phone, and the only thing that ever reaches our server is an anonymous Network record you can delete — or simply let expire.

Is Spectral Vision real? Does it actually detect ghosts?
No. Spectral Vision is a fictional entertainment game. It does not detect ghosts, spirits, or paranormal activity of any kind. Every reading, anomaly and entity is procedurally generated by game rules on your device.
Does it need an internet connection?
It is playable fully offline. With location allowed, the app makes an anonymous, city-scale weather request to Open-Meteo to influence the fictional readings, and — only if you joined The Network — asks which ghosts are haunting the roughly 10 km square around you. Deny location and it makes no requests at all.
What can other players see about me?
Nothing. The Network has no names, profiles, messages or chat. A ghost you set loose carries its game details and the spot it haunts — never the name you gave it, never its picture, and nothing that ties it to you. Even we cannot tell who set a ghost loose.
Does Spectral Vision need an account?
No. There are no accounts, no sign-in, and no profile. The game works immediately after install.
What permissions does the app use?
Camera (for the scanner view and journal thumbnails), microphone (ambient loudness as a fictional detection input), location (to vary the world, fetch local weather, and find nearby hauntings if you joined The Network), motion/light sensors (for the signal-tracking mechanic), and notifications (one reminder before your Network record expires, plus Halloween notices). All permissions are optional — the game degrades gracefully if you decline any of them.
How do I delete my data?
On your phone: Settings → Purge Archive removes every journal entry and image, and uninstalling removes the app and its data. On our server: Settings → Delete my Network data erases your anonymous record and calls your ghost home at once — or do nothing and it expires on its own. See the Data Deletion page for full details.
Is Spectral Vision suitable for children?
It is designed for players aged 13 and over. The content — mild horror, fictional ghosts, ominous sounds — is rated suitable for younger players, but the game, and especially The Network, is not directed at children under 13. There is no chat, no advertising and no purchases.
